This is sort of sad, but also saved my day. If I had slightly more entertaining orthodontic work and a hat, most of my conversations with my boss would be straight out of Lil Jon's book.
Por Ejemplo!
Boss: So, I don't feel like taking care of any of my responsibilities, so you're going to have to do the following things.
Me: OOOOOHHHHHHH-KAAAAYYY!!!
Boss: Uhm, and I know that you don't have a degree in Comp Sci, but I just realized we need a website. By tomorrow.
Me: WHHHHHHHHAT?!
Boss: Wait, you've been telling me this since July, right?
Me: Yes, dammit, ye...er, I mean...YYYYYYEEEEAAAAAAH!!!
Boss: Good, so you'll make one, then?
Me: WHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT (the hell, lady?)
Boss: Good. Now, let's talk about that other thing you're working on. How are you getting around that problem?
Me: It's actually kind of cool, and I'll need your opinion on it. I did this one thing, but we could in theory do this other thing instead. The benefits of Thing A are...
Boss: Whatever. Pick one.
Me: OOOOOOOKKAAAAAYYYY...(Grr.)

It's Official!
I jinx any state or city I affiliate myself with. Texas has just passed its new budget. Guess what's happening to education?
Yep, no hiring this year. So, no teaching job for me. Sure am glad I got that MAT. Good use of funds, effort, and time, that was.
On the bright side, I'm "first in line for a job" whenever the current boss gets enough money to actually, yanno, PAY someone for the fulltime work that I already do. Eeeeexcept that she's just brought this other guy on board...to do a lot of stuff that is already my job. New Guy has an MBA and lives in CA. Boss keeps helpfully reminding me that I'd have his job if I had an MBA and lived in CA. Or just lived in CA, as the MBA is "not actually that useful." As it is, I'm still "first in line" once she attains funding.
Seeing as I am, quite literally, THE ONLY ONE in the ENTIRE DAMN COMPANY who writes grants/applications/documents and tries to put the pieces together to produce a functioning business, getting funding shouldn't take much longer than, oh, forever. Give or take a decade.
FML.

Ia! Ia!
Cthuugle Ph'nglui Search Ftaghn!
Less random: I just chopped off all my hair. Locks of Love is going to get a giant ponytail. However, I now understand why "normal" women kvetch about having to get their hair done. This ordeal took 2.5 hours.
Granted, I got my hair dyed professionally for the first time -- I have very little of it nao, so might as well, right? JEEBUS. IT. TOOK. FOREVER.
On the bright side, though, I do look more colorful. On the down side, there is enough hairspray in my hair that I get nervous when people across the street light a cigarette because I will probably burst into flame. (On the really, really, retinal-scorchingly bright side, that would be going out with a bang, right? Right. ::drum drum cymbal::)

PAID!!!
My check is now, officially, truly in the mail. My boss called me as she dropped it into the mail box. The moneys owed to me for the work I've done since July are finally en route. I must away to do the Dance of Joy.

Teehee.
I am in a bad mood. Instead of exposition, I give you proof that Jar Jar has hijacked the entire Star Wars saga. It is in Lego, and thus INDISPUTABLY ACCURATE!

Knitknitknit.
A question, fellow nerdlings: are you still as nerdy as you were in college?
I ask as I think I may be dangerously close to normal. Video gaming is no longer a serious occupation -- knitting and cooking replaced it. It's not nerdy knitting, either -- less Cthuluclava, more shawl. It's been a few months since my last RP session -- we just don't know many RPers, anymore. And that's actually okay.
Real life does sort of suck the joy out of once-fun stuff. Somehow, a video game that includes doing boring crap to make ends meet and going through checklists of arbitrary tasks someone assigns you for no particular reason seems awfully similar to work. (Though I might enjoy work much more if it did actually involve stabbing things. Just saying.)
Who knows? Maybe nerd levels will normalize eventually. For now, though, I'm going to continue using my free time to knit coasters and granny sweaters.

Victory!
The in-laws are (finally) gone, and I have figured out the Next Big Thing in diet crazes.
While the ILs were here, we ate at restaurants for the week. Fatty, tasty, high-calorie restaurants. I did have a salad -- once...with a steak.
However! I did not factor in the FIL's near-miraculous powers of stressing the holy hell out of people! Despite the abysmal diet and the utter lack of exercise (as I spent most of my time hiding in the office), I lost between 3 and 4 pounds, since I was too nervous and stressed to actually finish any of my food. And, even a few days after their departure, I'm still not eating normally! Who knows how this will affect the upcoming weigh-in!
If I can find some way of mailing the inlaws to potential dieters, I can rent by the week and make a fortune! This plan is infallible.
